Uganda and Rwanda have a pleasant climate year round with minor temperature variations. The altitude on a typical Uganda safari varies from 1,000 metres to 2,400 metres above sea level. Days are pleasant, 75 to 85 degrees Fahrenheit and nights are moderate, 50 to 60 degrees Fahrenheit. At higher altitudes it can be cooler, especially at Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. The green season is usually from April to May and again from late October to November.
The tour generally is fully inclusive as detailed in your itinerary. However, personal expenditures are excluded. We suggest that you allow US$ 25 per day to cover the cost of drinks, souvenirs (within reason) etc. Credit cards are not commonly used but are accepted as payment in most international hotels and better restaurants. Money is best exchanged at banks or exchange bureau rather than at hotels who will often charge 10% or more for the transaction. Additionally you must be prepared to pay any visa fees in U.S. dollars upon entry and to pay any airport departure taxes. For most international flights these taxes are included in your ticket cost.
It is advisable to carry some US$ in cash, typically denominations bigger than twenties as these get a better exchange rate and should be year 2000 and above!! Small denominations will be necessary for small dollar purchases and will be accepted in most locations. Do not expect US$ in change, however.
